Mooresville, NC -

The North Carolina Auto Racing Hall of Fame (NCARHOF) has been a Mooresville landmark for nearly 20 years. The museum houses cars and historical items from numerous racing series, all connected to North Carolina.

Don Miller, the former president of Penske Racing, founded the museum in 1994. All of the proceeds from the facility goes to charitable organizations.

"This is for all types of motorsports,” said Miller. “Anything that had ever run in the state of North Carolina. We have everything from drag cars to sports cars to Indy cars, and then of course we have a good base in stock cars as well."

Ryan Newman, who Miller discovered and helped hire at Penske Racing and now drives for Richard Childress Racing, is a member of the NCARHOF’s board.

"When Benny Parsons passed,” said Newman. “Don actually gave me the honors of being the replacement for Benny Parsons on the board here at the museum. It's an honor to be a part of it."

Race fans and drivers alike come to the museum off exit 36 on Interstate 77 to marvel at the cars that once dominated the track.

"The things that they did and the things that you would change, that's what I think about,” said Newman. "This is the heart of NASCAR country where all the teams call home. To have a museum is a no brainer."
