Panthers Draft in the Books; Day 3 Brings in Three More Players

Charlotte, NC - The Carolina Panthers 2014 NFL Draft is complete, and six new players are headed to Charlotte.

Day 3 of the NFL draft netted the Panthers two defensive backs and a running back out of Stanford.

The first selection of Saturday afternoon was Tre Boston -- a safety out of North Carolina. Then, Panthers general manager Dave Gettleman did some wheeling and dealing, moving up twenty spots to grab cornerback Bene Benwikere out of San Jose State.

The Panthers sent their 5th round pick and 7th round pick in this year's draft to Minnesota, in exchange for the Vikings 5th round pick. That swap netted Carolina the twenty spot improvement, so they could grab Benwikere.

After selected Florida State wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin in the first round on Thursday, Carolina chose Missouri defensive end Kony Ealy in the second round. The Panthers then selected Trai Turner, an offensive guard out of LSU, in the third round.

Gettleman said Saturday that the Panthers expect to add a few undrafted players through free agency.
