A Baseball Surprise

Posted: Updated:
A Charlotte Knights game is a great way to spend a few hours with family, enjoying hot dogs, peanuts, and the seventh inning stretch. For one family, it was the location of an emotional reunion.

Philip Elmore is a Gunner's Mate 1st Class in the United States Navy and has been stationed in Germany since October 2013. It appeared that he would miss seeing his 8-year-old daughter Isabella graduate from her first communion class on Saturday.

"I wanted to be here on Friday night to surprise her," Elmore said. "It's a great feeling, like the same feeling when she was born," he added.

Elmore is a native of Charlotte and knew about the new ballpark and wanted a memorable reunion with his little girl. The Charlotte Knights were able to make that moment happen.

"He (Elmore) reached out to our organization a while back and we were able to put this together," said Dan Rajkowski, COO of the Charlotte Knights. "It's really a special moment to see a dad, and he hasn't seen his daughter since October. This is kind of a neat thing to do."
