A.J. Blue, senior running back at UNC-Chapel Hill, has always had dreams of playing in the NFL. For a small-town boy from Dallas, North Carolina, he’s already making his hometown proud.

Blue’s mother, Theresa Adams, says it wasn’t an easy road, but he was always willing to give it his all at North Gaston High School.

“There’s no words for how proud I am of A.J. from what he’s been through, gone through, and what he’s going through now. He’s still being so strong,” Adams said.

Beau Norwood, his former football coach says Blue was a man amongst boys. He could tell his talents would take him , and it did. He won a state championship his senior year and went off to play for UNC-Chapel Hill.

“He is a true example of perseverance and hardwork and determination. I’ve said to a lot of people, he’s the epitome of seizing opportunity when it presents itself,” Norwood said.

Regardless of the NFL draft outcome, Adams will be proud of her son.

“How much he cared, how much he tried, how much he wanted it, how consistent he was in trying to get it, if they do not call his name, I’m quite sure he’ll make it somewhere, to God be the glory,” she said.
