I got so sick of the Canadian cold, I moved down to Charlotte just to avoid the snow. And of course to join the My Fox Carolinas family as a Digital Journalist. I grew up in Calgary (think the Houston of Canada) and after graduating from Carleton University with a Bachelor of Journalism, I moved to Toronto to cover sports; which in Canada means hockey.

If you only had 36 hours to spend in the Queen City, what would you do? Where would you eat? What would you want to see? That is the idea behind the New York Times '36 Hours' feature.

Charlotte, NC - David and Jason Benham were supposed to hosting a brand new reality television show on HGTV this fall. In fact, it still says they are on their company website.

However, yesterday HGTV tweeted that the network was dropping the Benham brothers' show called 'Flip it Forward'. The quiet social media announcement came after the site 'Right Wing Watch' posted an article on the pair.

The article has a recording of David making anti-gay remarks on a radio show during which he also discusses the fight for a same-sex marriage ban in North Carolina's state constitution.

Tonight, 'My Fox Carolinas Primetime' will have an exclusive interview with both of them.

The Benham brothers, who are Christians, said in a statement "Our faith is the fundamental calling in our lives, and the centerpiece of who we are. As Christians we are called to love our fellow man. Anyone who suggests that we hate homosexuals or people of other faiths is either misinformed or lying."

They own several businesses in the Charlotte area. Below is their full statement.

"The first and last thought on our minds as we begin and end each day is: have we shined Christ's light today? Our faith is the fundamental calling in our lives, and the centerpiece of who we are. As Christians we are called to love our fellow man. Anyone who suggests that we hate homosexuals or people of other faiths is either misinformed or lying.

"Over the last decade, we've sold thousands of homes with the guiding principle of producing value and breathing life into each family that has crossed our path, and we do not, nor will we ever discriminate against people who do not share our views.

"We were saddened to hear HGTV's decision. With all of the grotesque things that can be seen and heard on television today you would think there would be room for two twin brothers who are faithful to our families, committed to biblical principles, and dedicated professionals. If our faith costs us a television show then so be it."

What do you think? Does how the Benham brothers feel about homosexuality have anything to do with a show on flipping houses? Do you think they should have been allowed to keep their show? Or do you believe HGTV made the right move? Tweet me @kacieFOX46 or visit us on Facebook and let me know how you feel.
