Showtime Documentary Filmed In Charlotte

Posted: Updated:
Coal ash has been a hot topic in Charlotte since the massive Dan River spill this year.

Now the issue is gaining the attention of huge Hollywood names like James Cameron and Ian Somerhalder.

“Years of Living Dangerously” is a Showtime documentary series that highlights the effects of global warming around the world.

Episode four titled “The Preacher’s Daughter” is about Anna Jayne Joyner and her quest to shut down a coal-fired power plant in Asheville North Carolina.

In the episode, celebrity correspondent Ian Somerhalder listens to both sides of the debate over climate change.

One of Joyner’s biggest challenges is convincing her dad Rick that global warming is a major concern.

Rick Joyner is the pastor of MorningStar Ministries and does not believe in climate change.

“I got to talk to some of the top scientists that are proponents of global warming but I never had that eureka moment about climate change.”

However, he is deeply concerned about the effect that coal has on the environment.

A screening of the episode showed at the Charlotte City Club on Wednesday May, 7th
