Man Accused Of Groping Girl At Lemonade Stand

Posted: Updated:

Salem-Ore.-It was supposed to be a day of entrepreneurship in the Oregon state capital, but what happened to a 13-year-old girl at the community event is disturbing.

A young girl says after she offered Steven Wallace a glass of lemonade, he made a sexual comment.

And according to the girl, Wallace didn't stop there.

The teen says after she gave him the drink he kept saying inappropriate things.

"He comes around made another strange comment and gropes me then he walked off," she said.

Stunned that this happened in the middle of Salem's first ever "Lemonade Day" the girl says at first she didn't know what to do, but then thought about hundreds of other girls the man could victimize and called 9-1-1.

"They showed up nearly immediately a minute or two later police officer said point out man, they went up and detained immediately," the girl said.

Chip Conrad, whose non-profit center for entrepreneurial education brought the national event to salem, says he feels terrible about what happened.

"My heart just goes out to them. I feel terrible that it happened to them," he said.

The young entrepreneur says she won’t let what happened stop her from participating in events like Lemonade Day in the future.

She says instead wants to invoke courage among others who may also be victims.
