Speaking Your Language

Posted: Updated:

Charlotte, N.C. (WJZY) -- Hola. Bon jour. Salaam...

Have you ever wanted to learn a language, but didn't want to sit through a class or pay for a trip abroad?

Or maybe you speak another language, but don't have anyone to talk to.

We found a hidden gem in Charlotte's International House - a grass roots non-profit organization. It helps folks connect with the city's diversity.

It offers conversation hours in more than ten languages - like Spanish, French, and Arabic. We met someone from Santiago Chile who has been running this Spanish conversation for 14 years.

"It helps to maintain the cultural diversity, the different languages, as well as there are different interests in the people who want to learn the language. Some want to visit another country, some want to communicate with people of a particular language they are trying to improve or learn," said Raul Farroch.

These conversation hours are completely free and take place at International House on Central Avenue in Charlotte.
