The city of Belmont has a downtown area filled with restaurants, shops, and office space. But about two blocks away, the city hosts another strip of businesses, that some locals call the "other" downtown.

The city wants to merge the two together, by encouraging other businesses and residential developers to fill in the gap between the main downtown, and the "other" downtown. That way, the city will have more of a center city, and it will be more walkable.

This does need to be approved by city council before plans move it forward.
