Accident at the polls sends three to the hospital

Three people were injured Tuesday morning by a moving vehicle in a church parking lot.

Concord Police are investigating a vehicle accident at Center United Methodist Church where voting for today’s primary election is taking place. Police and EMS responded to a report of a traffic accident with injury.

When they arrived, responders found three victims who were struck by a minivan moving in reverse in the parking lot. The minivan also struck a parked vehicle.

Police have identified the driver as 79 year-old Fay Griffin. The victims, Tony Allen, Susan Hicks and Sharon Campbell, are all listed as being in stable condition.

The victims were transported to CMC-Northeast.

Cabarrus County's election operations are proceeding normally at this location.
