4 charged after attorney shot in Bloomfield Hills

Posted: Updated:
BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJBK) - Four Sterling Heights residents have been charged after the shooting of a lawyer from Bloomfield Hills.

Investigators say David Zacks, 57, was critically wounded when someone posing as a police officer shot him through his front door.

Devon Miller, 21, Henry Williams, Cassandra Chobad and Christopher Monteil are accused of armed robbery, conspiracy, and weapons charges. Miller is the alleged gunman. He also faces charges for assault with intent to murder.

Investigators say at least one of the suspects was associated with Zacks and had been to his house before. Bloomfield Hills Police Chief David Hendrickson describes the situation as a "robbery gone bad."

Zacks is still hospitalized but is in good condition. Miller and Williams are on probation after serving prison time for a bank robbery. Their bond was set at $5 million each. Bond for Chobad and Monteil was set at $2 million a piece. Monteil, the alleged getaway driver, told the judge he works as a pizza delivery driver. Chobad broke down telling the judge she recently had a baby. Police say Zacks was home along with his wife, two children and a house guest at the time of the April 30 shooting.
