Expansion of Lancaster ER Costs For Employees

Posted: Updated:

Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster is renovating and expanding their emergency room due to a large volume of patients they don’t have room for.

But the expansion is coming at a cost for some of their loyal employees.

“The break room has been removed,” said Director of Emergency Services Tammy Cooper. “Myself, the case manager and my clinical coordinators office have been taken.”

Doctors, nurses and other staff members have been forced to give up their personal space to allow for the $4.4 million dollar interior renovation.

Coopers office space and others around the hospital, will be converted into rooms for emergency department beds.

The hospital was built to accommodate 19,000 patients. The new renovations will allow them to serve 60,000.

The renovations are expected to be complete by January.

“We want to make sure that we are safely taking care of our patients…and that they are satisfied whenever they come here,” said Cooper.
