Known for my unconventional reports, I am a digital journalist for My FOX Carolinas in Charlotte. I was born a long time ago in Syracuse, New York. Since then I have spent most of my life in Pennsylvania and Colorado. My biggest weakness: I have no weaknesses. I’m a smooth operator, operating correctly, and a master of journalism according to the University of Colorado.

You probably wouldn’t think of North Carolina as being a big broomball state, but around 70 people participate in the league hosted at the Extreme Ice Center in Indian Trail.

The game is similar to hockey, but there are no skates, pucks or hockey sticks involved. Instead they use boots, balls and brooms.

Broomball veteran, Steve Hoeflin, says “the rumor that I always hear is it was like drunk man’s hockey. You didn’t want any sharp objects out there while you played so you just took brooms and boots and played out on the pond.”

Women are also encouraged to join the broomball league. One player, Deb Douglas, says “most teams have only one female on the team so it’s great that it’s co-ed but we could use a lot more women.”
