“About every two weeks, we go buy a rotisserie chicken from wherever it’s on sale. On that night we eat chicken breast with two veggies and a fruit,” says Julia. “The next afternoon is my favorite, because we make Carolina Chicken Chili, which is a recipe I helped my mom make up."

New data shows that Rock Hill and York County are on the path to rapid population growth in the next few years.

With that on the forefront of city officials’ minds, their main priority is building the roads to accommodate said growth.

“We cannot wait until we have a really bad situation,” said Rock Hill Mayor Doug Echols. “Frankly, I think that’s where we are now.”

Celanese Road sends thirty thousand people to work every day in Charlotte. Traffic will only increase on that road as York County is expecting a double – digit percentage population growth by 2020.

“The roads are already congested,” said one Rock Hill resident.

The city has a solution: projects that build new roads connecting drivers to I-77. But the solution won’t come overnight. It will take long range planning and financing.

Mayor Echols said tax payers shouldn’t worry because funding will come from multiple sources, not just tax payers.
