Salisbury Man Dies In York County Jail

The York County Sheriff’s Office and the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is investigating the death of an inmate at the York County Detention Center over the weekend.

On April 27, 2014 at approximately 9:15pm a detention officer located 35 year-old Leonard Daniel Savercool, Jr. of Salisbury. He was found lying in the floor of a housing unit unconscious and not breathing.

EMS personnel were immediately called and responded to the Detention Center. The York County Coroner’s Office along with SLED is investigating the death.

Savercool was booked into the detention center on April 25 on charges from the Fort Mill Police Department of Petit Larceny and Entering Premises after Warning.

“Our hearts and prayers go out to the family of Mr. Savercool during this difficult time,” the Sheriff’s Office said.
