Hundreds of people took to the streets in Plaza-Midwood today for "Bike Fest 2014."
It was the fourth year for the event.

"I liked the track and the bike wash," said nine-year-old Cole.

Kids rode their bikes in a parade that stretched for a mile to the neighborhood.

The roads were shut down for the afternoon for riders to hit the streets.

Kids also got to put those skills to the test in a competition.

"I did different courses," said five-year-old Dahila.

The kids got to just "be kids" and have some fun.

"Riding with my friends and doing the obstacle course," says nine year old

Furry friends and adults took in the festivities in Plaza Midwood.

The day included music, food, and hanging out.
Also, a good cause; "Trips for Kids" was out to collect bikes for kids.

This is the fourth year for "Bike Fest."
Pamela Murray started the event to promote bike riding and chose Plaza-Midwood because of the friendliest of the neighborhood.

"It's just a good way to get people outside riding a bike," said Murray.

"Bike Fest" occurs every year in Charlotte.
