The Queen City is near the top of another new list; this time for furry friends. Charlotte was ranked the fourth best city for dog lovers.

In the last five years, Charlotte, mainly South End has become more pet friendly.

"A few years ago it was a NC Dept of Agriculture law that you couldn't bring your dog into restaurants, and now that's changed," says Meredith Thompson, owner of Canine Cafe.

And Blaire Bryant says it's because of Charlotte transplants. He's noticed that people who move here bring their pets as theiremancipationn. When they go out, they want to bring their dogs.

While he was looking at other kennels, Bryant decided to open up his own place for dogs, called "Club Fetch." The dogs play for most of the day, but have their own kennels in case they want to relax. They have three play areas, one with couches and TVs. The kennels also have TVs for the dogs to watch as well.

"It's important to build relationship with the dog so they feel comfortablewholeheartede here," Bryant says.

Many wouldn't spend the money on their dogs like this, but the demand has been proven. More than 60% of South End has a pet.
