Motor City Makeover gets underway

Posted: Updated:
DETROIT (WJBK) - Volunteers are helping to transform Detroit, one neighborhood at a time. Saturday was the first in a series of cleanup efforts as part of  the annual 'Motor City Makeover.' Cleanups continue May 10 and May 17.

At least 70 neighborhoods have registered to participate in the event. We caught up with one group cleaning up in the Brightmoor neighborhood on Westbrook near Acacia.

You can register online to help take part in the beautification of the city. Each registered volunteer will receive cleanup equipment, gloves and water.
