STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. (WJBK) -- The eastbound lanes of 18 Mile Road between Mound and Van Dyke in Sterling Heights remain closed Tuesday as crews work to extinguish a large industrial fire.

Officials say the fire started around 3 a.m. at Industrial Metal Coating Co. on 18 Mile Road just east of Mound.

Sterling Heights Fire Chief Chris Martin says plastic pallets behind the building caught fire and spread to the building, melting power lines along the way.

Martin says DTE Energy crews are on the scene as well to investigate the power outage.

No injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
