Hickory, NC -

More than 50 microbrewers will be in Hickory Saturday, April 26, for the 12th Annual Hickory Hops Festival.

"We know we're going to have about 275 to 300 beers,” said Jason Yates, co-owner, Olde Hickory Brewery. “We're going to have 62 breweries represented. It's only a 2-ounce sample that you get in the glass, but it's a fun time."

Festival goers have six hours to try out different beers from all over the Southeast.

"The whole idea about beer festivals is to educate the public and the consumer about different beers and different beer styles, and different breweries and the interpretation of those styles,” said Steven Lyerly, co-owner/brewmaster, Olde Hickory Brewery.

Nearly 3000 people are expected to be on Union Square for the annual festival and competition.

Advanced tickets are available online for $30 through Wednesday, April 23. Tickets are also being made available at the Olde Hickory Tap Room, Olde Hickory Station and Amos Howards in Hickory for $35. Remaining tickets will be available at the gate Saturday.
