I got so sick of the Canadian cold, I moved down to Charlotte just to avoid the snow. And of course to join the My Fox Carolinas family as a Digital Journalist. I grew up in Calgary (think the Houston of Canada) and after graduating from Carleton University with a Bachelor of Journalism, I moved to Toronto to cover sports; which in Canada means hockey.

Charlotte, NC - This morning, just before sunrise, congregations from four Charlotte area churches gathered in Romare Bearden Park for an Easter Sunrise Service.

It was the first worship service to be held in the new park, and the turnout was greater than the organizers expected.
Reverend Pen Peery from First Presbyterian said he thought there were even some people from outside the four collaborating churches who may have seen people coming together and thought to join.

By the end of the service the sun had risen, but the temperature had not. People who attended were invited back to First Presbyterian -- which is just blocks from the park -- to visit and warm up with hot coffee and tea.
