Dale Jarrett's Son Zach Blazes His Own Trail

Posted: Updated:
Dale Jarrett had one of the most successful careers in NASCAR history.  Dale's father Ned had a career just a special. Both are NASCAR Hall of Famers.

The next member of the Jarrett family tree -- Dale's son Zach -- could probably drive circles around most people. But he didn't choose that path.

Instead, Zach chose what those in the NASCAR community like to call "stick and ball sports". He played basketball growing up, and eventually transitioned into baseball.

And it's on the diamond that he's had his greatest success.

Zach is a freshman at Charlotte, playing a myriad of positions for the 49ers. He spends most of his time in the outfield, but is perhaps best at the plate.

His 6'3 -- his dad says nearly 6'4 now -- frame holds a broad young man who can pound the baseball to any part of the park. And he's got the backing of his family, to boot.

For more on Zach, and how his family is supporting his decision to hit the diamond, check out the video above.
