Supporters Rally For Medical Marijuana

Posted: Updated:

The North Carolina Cannabis Patients Network held a cannabis education rally Saturday in Uptown Charlotte. This is their second year holding the rally, and their goal is to educate people on what they feel are the positive effects of medical marijuana.

“I just really believe it’s an important cause,” said supporter Bob Kramer. “It’s not just people looking to get high.”

Kramer lost his leg in a drunk driver accident in 2008. For the pain, doctors gave him opiates. He said it did not help the pain and it also made him depressed. He went to Oregon, where medical marijuana is legal, to recover.

“The doctors just kept giving me more and more opiates…. and none of them were working.”

Kramer joined dozens of other supporters on the corner of Trade and Tryon, where they handed out pamphlets and waved signs.

“Medical marijuana is the wave of the future,” said supporter Tom Harper. “It’s helping people that don’t have any other option.

A Fox News poll showed that 85% of voters support medical marijuana.
