Abandoned Baby Bear Nursed Back To Health.

Posted: Updated:
A little bear cub without a family is now in the care of wildlife authorities in Lake Tahoe.

Meet ten-week old Tahoe .Her cute little face will melt your heart but her story wont.

She was abandoned left outside the bear league facility in a dog crate.

"She was going out to get in her car and she had an airline pet carrier that was right out in front of her garage and she heard a noise coming from it. She looked at it there was a little bear cub in there,” says Millham of Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care.

Luckily, other than dehydration, Tahoe is healthy, but as for where she will end up, that isn't so happy.

The person who dropped her off didn't leave a note where she was found so she might not be able to be released into the wild.

Millham explains, “my understanding is they are looking at possibly placing her into a facility some zoo permanent care facility."

They would always rather release them into the wild, but they have to know where they came from for health reasons.

"Immunity for some diseases they carry. Things like that that will carry from mother to child,” continues Millham.

The experts don't know what happened to this little girl’s mom, but they believe the most likely scenario is she was poached because this baby is so small.

"Moms don't' leave them. They stick around and of course moms are still in hibernation. They stay in the den. The cubs don't come out of the den till they can climb. This kid can't climb."

Until a decision is made on what to do with this young cub, Tahoe will stay at Lake Tahoe’s Wildlife care.
