Four seasonal international flights are scheduled to begin departing Charlotte-Douglas International Airport in the next six weeks, but already American Airlines is scaling back.
Direct flights from Charlotte to Barcelona, Lisbon and Manchester will begin on May 22. A flight to Brussels will launch on June 5. Initially, these flights were announced as daily non-stop flights, but the airline is reducing their frequency and ending the service sooner than initially announced.
Flights to Lisbon and Barcelona have been reduced to four times per week. All four destinations will see service end in the early fall.
Davien Anderson, spokesman for the airline said in a written statement that the reductions were part of a plan to maximize the use of American's fleet and matching customer demand.
