Fort Mill Handyman Killed In Officer Involved Shooting

Posted: Updated:

When 73 year-old Vivian Harris of Fort Mill returned home last week after visiting her sister in Alabama, she came home to the scene of an officer-involved shooting that occurred while she was gone.

York County Sheriff’s deputies were sent out to her home on April 8 when James Calvin Youngblood, 28, was believed to be a harm to himself. Youngblood’s mother called the Sheriff’s deputies and told them that her son, Harris’ handyman, was at Harris’ home.

According to reports, when deputies arrived, there was no sign of Youngblood. They then found him in Harris’ car and he pointed a firearm at the deputies.

Two of the deputies on the scene fired at the young man killing him.

“If there was a bad side of Calvin, I never knew,” said Harris.

She confirmed to My Fox Carolinas that she owned two loaded guns – one by her bed and one in her car. She believes that if it is true that Youngblood pointed a gun at deputies, it could have been her gun.
