I got so sick of the Canadian cold, I moved down to Charlotte just to avoid the snow. And of course to join the My Fox Carolinas family as a Digital Journalist. I grew up in Calgary (think the Houston of Canada) and after graduating from Carleton University with a Bachelor of Journalism, I moved to Toronto to cover sports; which in Canada means hockey.

Kannapolis, NC - Today Kannapolis Town Council was presented with a plan to beautify some of the main parkways and streets leading into the city.

The plan suggested using a combination of volunteers, inmates and people responsible for community service to help with the upkeep of these roads with things like mowing grass and picking up garbage.

Some town councilors think educating members of the community is crucial to cleaning up the streets, while others argued that people who litter simply don't care enough to change to their ways.

Director of Public Works Wilmer Melton says the motivation to beautify the city must come from the community, and not from the town council.

He believes it's important for these streets to look a certain way because they are the quite frequently the first thing people see when traveling to Kannapolis.
