Lake Norman Fire Department, along with help from other departments keep an eye out for boaters, swimmers, and even lake front homes safe. Lake Norman is a giant body of water to patrol but with the help of "Marine 1" LNFD is able to stand up to the challenge.

The department has had the boat for five years. It was purchased after a homeowner (who's house caught fire) said the department needed a way to fight fires from the lake. With the homeowners help, along with a donation from the Robert Ebert Foundation.

Deputy Chief Kevin Clark of LNFD says his department is not only filled with great equipment but it is complete with great people who know how to deal with whatever task they are faced with.

Clark also added the department is raising money to go towards portable radios to increase communications between firefighters when on the scene of a fire. They are holding an auction at Trump National Golf Club in Mooresville on Saturday June 21.
