Cyclists Race In Uptown Charlotte

Posted: Updated:
The 11th annual Novant Health Invitation Criterium race had the streets of Uptown Charlotte shut down today. 200 professional cyclists from over 40 countries competed for cash and prizes.

The winner of the women's race brought home $20,000 while the men's winner raked in $40,000.

Money raised for the race goes to promote community awareness of the Brain Tumor Fund for the Carolinas. The BTFC is commited to the Patient Navigator position through Carolina Neurosurgery Spine and Associates. That position is to cater to brain cancer patients and their families in the Charlotte region.

More than 35,000 spectators were expected to enjoy the races.
