UPDATE: Concord Philip Morris Plant has a Buyer

Posted: Updated:
Concord, NC - The old Philip Morris plant in Concord has a new buyer, and perhaps a new purpose. Victory Industrial Park confirmed on Monday that it has purchased the property, five years after the plant was closed down.

"We can state that the company or companies that will occupy the site is/are in the field of clean-tech infrastructure and will also be taking advantage of the excellent data communications capacity and other unique attributes of the site," Victory Industrial Park said in a released.

Concord Mayor Scott Padgett says he's hopeful the new owner will bring jobs to Concord. So far the company hasn't announced what they will do with the building. Thousands of people lost their jobs when the old plant closed.
