Prom spending is decreasing from last year. Visa has released their prom spending numbers and purchases have decreased 14% to $978 this year. That is down from $1,139 in 2013.

"I spent roughly $1,000 last year and this year about $600," one mom told me. She bought her daughter a dress, shoes, jewelry, accessories and paid for her hair, makeup and nails to be done.

Tyler Dunivan almost didn't go to his prom. "I didn't wanna go because of the price. I don't have the money to pay for it all," he told me. He shows goats in order to earn money to pay for prom. In addition to renting a tuxedo and paying for dinner, his school is charging a $45 entry fee to the prom itself.

Danielle Conner learned her lesson last year. This year she is reusing her shoes and spend hundreds less on her dress. "It wasn't worth the money," she told me. "I was only in there for two hours and danced for a few songs."

While teens are cutting down on extras like shoes and limos, they still very much are planning on going to prom.

"It's a memory you never can relive again," said Taylor Leer, who graduated last year and now works at Bedazzled in Eastridge Mall.

We all know that sometimes friends like to prank each other. While most pranks are done with good intentions, sometimes they go awry.
