FBI Seizes Cash, Financial Documents from Cannon

Posted: Updated:
Charlotte, NC - The FBI seized several possessions from former Charlotte Mayor Patrick Cannon, according to an unsealed search warrant.

The search warrant says that agents searched for documents in three places: Cannon's former city office, an office at his EZ Parking company, and his home.

Agents seized a "brown fossil carrying case" from Cannon's former city office. They also took a Wells Fargo statement, and a printed email from Amani Abdul to Peggy Huffman. The email was dated from February 19, 2014.

They took financial documents, including bank statements, from Cannon's home. Agents also seized a Glock 20 handgun and bullets, $7,680 in cash, cell phones, and computers.

The FBI took business records from the EZ Parking office, including contracts and payments, tax records, and check stubs.

Patrick Cannon resigned from office March 26, 2014 after the FBI arrested him that morning. A complaint filed against the former Charlotte mayor accuses him of accepting bribes from undercover FBI agents.
