Charlotte attorney Jerry Reese says the Queen City is big enough to have a major league baseball team. He filed seven lawsuits to stop the new uptown baseball stadium from being built.

He says Charlotte should have gotten an MLB team instead.

“I think the lack of a major league franchise is equivalent to the lack of an NFL franchise in Los Angeles. We’re talking about a huge franchise that’s under-served,” he said.

Some Charlotte Knights fans say they’re happy to have a baseball team. Dee Carver says maybe someday the city will have a major league team.

“I think this is like a tester to see if an MLB would work here… and maybe who knows, we can have both,” Carver said.

Reese said there’s still hope for bringing a major league team to the area. He’s still fighting the good fight.

“The market right now is larger than half the major league baseball market anyway. So it’s not a matter of number of people. It’s simply a matter of convincing a franchise to move and having the courage to develop the facility necessary,” he said.
