Lockdown lifted at Northwest School of the Arts

CHARLOTTE - UPDATE: 2:56 p.m. A lockdown at Northwest School of the Arts was lifted at about 2:25 p.m. Charlotte-Mecklenburg School officials say that despite reports, no weapon was found on the school's campus. All students and faculty members are safe.

Furthermore, the school will dismiss at its regular time of 4:15 p.m.

At approximately 1 p.m. Northwest School of the Arts, an arts magnet school within CMS was placed on lockdown.

The lockdown was initiated after reports of an alleged weapon on campus were received. CMS officials say it is unclear what type of weapon was reported and that police are investigating the claims.
