Joey Logano won at Texas Motor Speedway on Monday. But he practically needed to win the race twice.
Logano was cruising through the final laps of the Duck Commander 500, seemingly en route to an easy win over Brad Keselowski and the rest of the pack.
But just as Logano was set to take the white flag with a lead of more than two seconds, the caution flag came out, as Kurt Busch hit the wall.
As a result, Jeff Gordon and Brian Vickers were able to make pit road gambles, taking just two tires. Gordon came off pit road first, and led the pack to the green-white-checkered finish.
But it didn't take Logano long to overcome Gordon and the rest, taking his lead back on the penultimate lap, and coasting to the finish as the winner.
Logano's win marks the seventh different winner in seven Sprint Cup races this season. Second place finisher Jeff Gordon now leads the overall points standings. He has a four point edge over fellow non-winner Matt Kenseth.
