Charlotte's City Council to Pick New Mayor in Few Hours

Posted: Updated:
Charlotte City Council will pick a new mayor Monday night.

This will be the 4th mayor the city will have in less than a year.

This comes just 2 weeks after former Mayor Patrick Cannon resigned for allegations of corruption.

The BOE says the way the city's charter is set up there cannot be a special election.

This mayor will serve until the end of 2015.

Last year, former Mayor Anthony Foxx left his seat after being appointed on Obama's team.

City council picked Patsy Kinsey as interim mayor.

Cannon was elected in November and took office in December.

After 114 days, he stepped down after a 4 year undercover operation by FBI agents.

Robin Kanady will tell you all about the new mayor.

Archith Seshadri will explain how city council will pick the new mayor and what they're looking for.

Neima Abdulahi will show you how people are reacting to the fact that there's no special election.

Steven Gaither will be live tweeting from the city council meeting.
