ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - Officials are trying to clean up waterways in two south Georgia counties.

State conservation officials say funds are being made available to farmers, ranchers and forest owners in Brooks and Thomas counties to help repair environmental damage to four watersheds.

The Natural Resources Conservation Service will provide funding and advice for cover crops, filtering technology and terraces to help improve water quality.

The watersheds are Lower Deep Creek along with Upper Piscola Creek, Middle Piscola Creek and Lower Piscola Creek.

The project is part of the National Water Quality Initiative.
