Project 2 Heal: Therapy Dog Training in Waxhaw

Posted: Updated:
Waxhaw, N.C. (WJZY) -- Whether you're living with diabetes or post traumatic stress disorder, people are always looking for a cure or at least a way to make living each day a little easier.

A place in Waxhaw called Project 2 Heal is working to do exactly that.

They're not using medicine or counseling. They're using puppies.

Charles Petrizzo is the founder of Project 2 Heal. He and his wife breed and train puppies and donate them to disabled children and wounded warriors.

The puppies start their training at two days old so they will be ready to help anyone from a diabetic to a veteran with PTSD.

Here's the trailer of a documentary about Charles Petrizzo and Project 2 Heal.

There's a fundraiser coming up on May 22nd for the non-profit organization. It's a golf tournament put on by the business leaders of charlotte - also known as BLOC.

The tournament raises around 10,000 dollars. Each year the money goes to a different non-profit.
