I’m a local boy from Claremont, North Carolina. I attended Western Carolina University where I received a B.S. in Communication with a double concentration of broadcasting and journalism. While in college I was the General Manager of WWCU-FM and color commentated WCU football basketball games.

Years of construction to widen I-85 in Cabarrus County from Bruton Smith Boulevard (Exit 49) to north of N.C. 73 (Exit 55) is one step closer to completion. Additional lanes will open starting tomorrow at 6 a.m.

These lanes will close nightly a 9 p.m. until the following morning at 6 a.m. for the next few weeks to finish painting lines and to remove any remaining barrels.

This was a three year project that cost $125.2 million. NC DOT is on a timeline for late summer for the full completion of this project. Next for the DOT is another 7 mile stretch that will end in Rowan County. They plan on awarding that project to a developer in the next few weeks. That project is expected to take 4-5 years to complete.
