    Charlotte City Council members looked at a proposal to make improvements to the Time Warner Cable Arena. The plan is estimated at $29.9 million.The upgrades would mean increased seating, floor repair, restaurant access, upgrading the scoreboard along with improved locker rooms.The original request to renovate the facility was $47.8 million .Council members will vote on the funding requests for the area during the Sept 8th meeting.

A father in Mint Hill says he never imagined he would outlive his son. But that became the case two years ago when Jeffrey Hardin was struck by a car and left for dead. Charles Hardin says talking to us is his last plea to find out who took his son’s life.

It happened on August 16, 2012 on Lebanon Road. Jeffrey Hardin was walking home that night when he became a victim of a hit-and-run.

“It’s so bad that somebody could hit somebody, leave them on the side of the road bleeding to death and die, and never tried to call 911,” he said.

Detective Tim Lezette of the Mint Hill Police Department says hit-and-runs are uncommon in Mint Hill.

“This is the first and only that I can really recall that I have been involved with this type of situation where we don’t have any leads to assist us in this,” Lezette said.

The Mint Hill Police Department has worked tirelessly to solve this case, but they’ve exhausted all possible leads. With no physical evidence, it’s been hard to develop a suspect. Lezette says it’s been hard watching the family not get the closure they deserve.

“It’s hard for me to see him in pain. Him being a citizen of Mint Hill, his son being a citizen of Mint Hill, we don’t want to see anybody go through what they’re going through right now,” Lezette said.

This is Charles Hardin’s final plea to the public. He says he just wants answers for his family and Jeff’s little girl, who still recalls her favorite memories with her father.
