New Hospital To Be Built In Fort Mill

Posted: Updated:

Tuesday, residents of Fort Mill learned that Piedmont Medical Center was awarded a Certificate of Need to build a new hospital.

Fort Mill Medical Center will be built on the corner of Highway 160 and 21.

Judge Phillip Lenski overturned to award the certificate to Carolina's Medical Center, and chose Piedmont Medical Center, instead.

The sister hospital of Piedmont Medical Center will have 100 beds, cardiology services and a 10-bed ICU.

“A hospital is a very important part of the community’s infrastructure,” said Piedmont Director of Marketing Amy Faulkenberry. “The folks in Fort Mill have had to leave their community for too long now…so we are excited to provide them for that.”

Piedmont’s CEO Bill Masterton will also be the CEO for Fort Mill Medical Center and said the hospital could be opened by 2018.
