The Charlotte City Council members are going to decide on who becomes the next mayor of the city. Council member Claire Fallon said at least four people have expressed interest in filling that seat. One of the hopefuls is Jennifer Roberts.

Roberts is a former Mecklenburg County commissioner of eight years.

"We all need to be part of this healing, whether they're in an official position or whether they're in a community position. I think we can all be part of restoring this trust," she said.

Roberts says she didn't actively seek the position, but was recommended for it.

"I got a lot of emails and a lot of phone calls and a lot of tweets and facebook posts of people urging me to put my name in for this," she said.

She says that regardless of who the city council selects as a leader, the goal is to help restore the city's image. Fallon says the council is looking for someone who could be a great spokesperson for the city. The council will start the process to fill that seat next week. Voters will have their chance to select a mayor for the next term in 2015.
