The ACC Tournament will be coming back to Charlotte in 2019. ACC commissioner Jon Swofford announced that the tournament will return to will return to Time Warner Cable arena in 2019.
“Some of the greatest chapters of ACC Tournament’s 61-year history have been written in these two cities, and we are proud to continue that tradition in Charlotte and Greensboro,” Swofford said. “Both cities are terrific hosts for our schools, fans and teams, with top-notch facilities and hospitality.
Charlotte has hosted the tournament 12 times at three locations in the past, most recently at the TWC Arena in 2008.
With this announcement, the ACC has its tournament sites lined up through 2020. Those locations are:
*2015-Greensboro (Greensboro Coliseum)
*2016-Washington D.C. (Verizon Center)
*2017-18, Brooklyn (Barclays Arena)
*2019-Charlotte (Time Warner Cable Arena)
*2020-Greensboro (Greensboro Coliseum)
Earlier this year, the conference and the city agreed to a six-year extension for Bank of America Stadium to host the football championship game, keeping it in Charlotte through 2019. TWC Arena will also host the 2019 CIAA Tournament as well.
