DJ Beestroh speaks out about nightclub shooting

Posted: Updated:

Ronald Robinson, more commonly known as DJ Beestroh, claims that he was unlawfully shot by two Dekalb deputies.

Robinson says he was getting into his Mercedes behind the Velvet club when he was fired upon by an 'unknown assailant'.

Robinson claims that he did not know the man who was shooting at him, but he began to return fire. The rapid gunfire between Beestroh and another man got the attention of two DeKalb Police Officers who were working off duty inside the club.

The officers say when they ran on the scene Robinson started shooting at them. Robinson says that he didn't see or hear the police during the shooting.

Robinson's attorney claims that evidence and eye-witnesses back Robinson's story. He believes that there is no way the 34-year old shot at the police that morning.

"We know where the police officers were positioned because of the shell casings  and I don't believe there's going to be any evidence to show that there's any gunshot fired in the direction of the officers, near the cars where they were standing," says Max Richardson, Robinson's attorney.

Robinson says he was running for his life through the parking lot with his empty gun in the air. Robinson says he was heading towards a staircase when the two officers came running down the same stairs. The officers say they had on full uniforms and yelled police.

Police then shot Robinson in the foot.

Robinson believes he was the victim and that he was attacked by two different parties.

"Basically I have two different parties shooting at me.  I'm running for my life. Luckily I make it inside the club and I don't realize I was shot until the shock wears off," says Robinson.
