Memorial for 11-year-old drowning victim

Posted: Updated:
Charlotte, NC - A memorial will be held for Randez Brown, the 11-year-old, who drowned while attempting to save his seven-year-old sister, Samiyah Brown from a creek on Thursday.

Family and friends will join together Monday at 6:00 p.m. behind the Marie G. Davis School near the creek to celebrate the life of Randez.

A family member told My Fox Carolinas Randez, Samiyah, and their friends were playing in a tunnel near the creek with Samiyah fell into the water, and  Randez tried to save her.

Neighbors say the creek behind the track at the Marie G. Davis School is a popular play place for kids in the neighborhood. But because it’s so dangerous, they want to find a way to keep children away from the area.

Samiyah Brown remains in critical condition, says a nurse at Carolinas Medical Center.
