Tar Heels Season Ends on Controversial Final Call

Posted: Updated:
The North Carolina Tar Heels season came to an end on Sunday, losing to Iowa State 85-83.  DeAndre Kane scored the game-winning bucket for the Cyclones with 1.6 seconds remaining, as the Heels were bounced in the Round of 32.

North Carolina tried to advance the ball to midcourt before calling a timeout, but time expired before they could do so, and any hopes for a last chance went begging.

All five of North Carolina's starters were in double-figures, led by Marcus Paige's 19 points. Kennedy Meeks had 15 points and 13 rebounds.

Iowa State was led by Kane's 24 points and 10 rebounds and 7 assists.
