What started out as a barbecue fundraiser for Kilah Davenport quickly turned into a celebration of her life.

Hundreds of people showed up today to honor the little girl who died unexpectedly just nine days ago.

Family and friends were there, but strangers also felt compelled to pay tribute to the four year old.

"There was a couple who came out to visit with us today who met Kilah two weeks ago in k-mart," her grandmother said.

Though tears were shed, Kilah's family wanted this to be a happy occasion.

The day was full of prayer, speeches and barbeque.

Family also took a few minutes to enjoy Kilah's favorite song.

Leslie and Kilah's mother, Kirbi continued to persevere and push Kilah's Law through.

And now it is on track to become a national law.

But through all that positivity,Leslie knows the adjustment is going to be hard.

"Im gonna miss her physically because that's what her mom and i did 24/7. We were a tag team. We're going to have trouble with what to do with that time."

So they're going to focus on abuse prevention, early. They want to talk to middle and high schoolers so no child will feel the pain Kilah endured.
