Today marked the opening of Mint Hill's little league baseball season. All the players showed up excited to play their heart out on the diamond.

It's a sport that brings the community together. Kitane Sayfou is a parent. He says the season unites everyone in Mint Hill.

"It's just bringing back everyone together. The challenge is for them to keep that community together, It's a sense of a small community. That's what's really important," he said.

The coaches say that baseball teaches the players more than just athleticism.

"It teaches them obedience. It teaches them discipline. It teaches them teamwork. It teaches them how to be a part of something," William Reardon said.

People in the community are also excited about the nice weather, but they say they would be out here no matter the weather.
