How To Prepare: Microsoft Retiring Windows XP, Office 2003

PHILADELPHIA -

Microsoft is saying goodbye to Windows XP and Microsoft Office 2003 next month.

The company is retiring the systems and discontinuing support, which means serious security risks if you don't properly prepare.

On Thursday morning, "Good Day Philadelphia" brought in tech guy Anthony Mongeluzo to help you know how to prepare!

Windows XP and Microsoft Office 2003 are being retired on April 9. That means Microsoft will not release any more security patches to protect the system.

Any computer connected to Internet and running an old system will be at risk. So customers will need to replace or upgrade their systems by the day prior, April 8.

Windows XP needs to be upgraded to windows 7 or 8 to receive updates.

A firewall or anti-virus will not protect you once support is discontinued.

This could be a big expense for major corporations, which may pass costs to consumers.
