Canning Case Comes To A Close

Posted: Updated:
Trenton, New Jersey (My9NJ) - It looks like the Rachel Canning saga has officially come to an end.

Last week the Canning family attorney, Angelo Sarno, held a press conference to announce that Rachel had gone home and asked the media to leave the family alone so that they can privately heal.

“Please don’t email them, please don’t contact them, do not camp out at their houses,” Sarno pleaded.

Less than 24 hours later, Rachel’s Attorney Tanya Helfand filed a motion with the judge asking that the court appoint a legal paid guardian and implied that Rachel may have been forced or pressured into going home. This lead to even more questions about whether this issue was really over.

Well now there is confirmation that the lawsuit against the Cannings has been officially dropped and the healing can begin.

Professor and Psychologist Dr. Chuck Williams chimed in to discuss what the next steps are for the Canning family and the message this case sent.

“As the judge said when this crazy case was first introduced, ‘why am I hearing this case, this seems like a family issue, a family matter. If I intervene am I playing the role of the parent?’ It seems to me, essentially, this was a mom and dad that said ‘go to your room’, she didn’t like it and she sued them. That’s what it boils down to. I think the best resolution for this was what happened, they dropped the case, she’s now at home, the family’s gonna work this out, it’s a private matter, it should have never been public, but Rachel made it public and she had to deal with the backlash to that,” he said.

Williams said it’s very likely that all the social media and public attention that this case gained probably encouraged Rachel to back-down. He also has some words of wisdom for any teenagers looking to follow in Rachel’s footsteps.

“Don’t sue your parents! Your parents have the right to tell you what the rules are in their home and if they’re not beating you, you have to abide by those rules and if you don’t, there are consequences for that, as there are in life,” he said.

StubHub, which is a website that provides services for buyers and sellers for tickets to sporting events, concerts, and other live entertainment events, has been hacked. StubHub is getting a lot of bad press, but the site is really the victim here. The hackers have hacked accounts from other sites, and then used that information to get into the StubHub accounts.
